A Chapter in the History of the Texas Independence
This is a WebQuest designed for ESL students in grades 9-12. It was written to help students decide the "real story" of the Texas Independence and Mexican/American War. Many of them disagree with our textbook in class. They have to write a new chapter on the topic including vocabulary words, a timeline, the chapter text, pictures, a glossary, chapter review questions and a bibliography. It is made so that a multi-language, multi-level class would have something for everyone to do.
The Great Alaskan Purchase
This lesson challenges students to explore the Alaskan frontier in order to help the United States Congress decide whether or not to purchase it. Each member is given different tasks, but the group must collaborate their efforts in a report to Congree that will decide the fate of the purchase!
