You are responsible to evaluate your attendance each day whether I remember to ask you or not! This is part of your grade. And people are automatically awarding themselves 10. If that were accurate, there would be a lot more stuff on the blogs and I would not be spending so much effort getting people started. I have created this rubric for self-scoring your participation. Pay attention to it and award yourself points accordingly.
