it continues

I stood on a big green hill surrounded by plains and fields. The sun was well past noon and Stan and Billy were sitting by the tree eating apples from the tree. The apples tasted sweet, lost in the taste of the apple I nearly forgot that we were on the run. It has been about a week and a half since we all had escaped from the prison (which was about 20 miles west of us).

I remember exactly how we did it like it was yesterday. I also know why I was in there too. Stupid reasons I think. Should have guessed the cops would have waited there for me, but I was drunk and not thinking straight. I was put in jail for five counts of bank robbery and one for attempted murder (to bad I didn’t put another bullet in him). I served only ten years before a few buddies and I figured out how to escape. We did it when two of the guards were sick (luck was on our side, there had been an epidemic of flu.). As we were digging on the side of the road I faked a heart attack and fell to the ground.

“Get up you piece of sh*t.” Said the guard

“My heart it hurts” I said. Luckily I hit something sharp and it made me bleed because the guard jumped off his horse and bent over me. I could smell whisky on his breath.

“Hey, Bob. Get the medical kit, we have an injury.” The guard said. Bob was the only other guard there. The other two were sick. They were only watching over five people.

As Bob checked me out Stan stabbed his pick into the first guard’s head. The smells of his body fluids were strong. Then Bob jumped up, pulled his weapon and shot the prisoner that was picking up the first guard’s gun. Just then I jump up from behind him and grab him. But he freaks out and ends up shooting another prisoner. I was finally able to break his neck and silence him. So I pick up his gun and look around. Two of our escapee friends we dead.

“Sh*t man. I did not expect that to happen so fast.” I said to the survivors.

“Yeah let get these chains off and get going.” said Stan.

And that is how we got here on this hill. We did not run into to much trouble after that. We only heard cops the day after the escape. But since then we have not seen any of sign of them.

“They know we have guns so I imagine they will want to trap or ambush us”. I said to the guys.

“Yeah I think so too”. said Stan.

“So after we eat lets take some apples and head for that patch of woods over there.” I said pointing at a medium sized meadow on the horizon.

“They will have a harder time finding us through the woods”. I continued, “Then we hit a small store or house and get a map and some more food”.

“So do you have a plan?” asked Billy.

“Of course I do, I would not be heading this way if I did not.” I said to him.

The year was 1720 and we were somewhere in the Midwest of the United States of America. The walk to the woods was quiet. The air was hot and the skies were blue. My plan was to go to Bull ridge. It was there that I stashed a huge sum of gold and money. With a lot of weapons and a good place to hide where they would never find us. My plan was to ditch Stan and Billy up near Springfield before going there. But before all that happens we had to get new clothes and find a town pr a map so that I can figure out where we were. That way I knew where to go.
