Many people are drug users in the United States, and many of them should not be. There are different types of drug usage and one of which is medically or pathologically using drugs. This type of drug usage is something that shouldn’t be used outside of medical treatment. These drugs help someone who has problems such as depression and needs help from a drug to make them feel better. If someone is using something such as an anti-depressant on their own, then they could very seriously injure themselves and cause permanent psychological harm to themselves. It is very easy to overdose on these or give yourself a dosage that is not necessary and cause yourself to harm yourself or act crazy. Another type of drug usage is genetic usage and is more a pattern than anything. If someone has a parent who is a drug user, they are more likely to be a drug user themselves. Kids learn many things from their parents and they often times do not learn from their parents mistakes and will repeat a family cycle. Metabolic imbalance is when you become addicted to a narcotic and your body then craves the drug. People often lose everything they have because they “need” more drugs and end up with a very miserable life with no one and nothing. They will give up whatever they need to and do whatever just to get the drug they crave so much. People will naturally want to experiment with things such as drugs and alcohol in their life time just to see what it’s like or to be rebellious because it’s something that is forbidden when you are young. When you take drugs, they will take over your brain and impair your judgment often. Many people think they are okay when they really have a problem and let the drug take over and become someone they never wanted to be. People will do things they never dreamed of doing if they were sober such as stealing, harming others and giving up their job, house, and everything they have just so that they can feel that high that they crave so much. The extent of the drug usage depends on the person and how far they will let the urge get to them. Euphoria-seekers are motivated by intense pleasure and they are often compulsive, expensive, disruptive, do many things that are illegal, willing to make extreme sacrifices, and they use drugs to feel what they think is normal. Maintainers are people who have a controlled usage of drugs and are not willing to let it interfere with their lives and give up things just to get high. Drugs are not a big part of their lives and are often more of a recreational use. Inadequate personality theory is when someone has something wrong with them mentally and uses drugs as a way to cope or escape from the world. They often abuse drugs and use them as something to help them fanaticize and use as an arousal. These people are main ones who need help from a doctor or mental help therapist to figure out why they need to feel this way. Problem-behavior proneness people tend to be more risk taking and likely to get into trouble. These people tend to be more rebellious, independent, open to new experiences, tolerant, accepting of deviance in others, and pleasure seeking. People who are addicted to drugs tend to be in denial and think that they are okay. If someone has friends that are into doing drugs then there is a much larger chance of them doing the drugs themselves.
