It would have turned out just fine if it wasn’t for that painted faced big shoed clown that showed up at my little girl’s birthday party.
The day was hot and my little girls name was ally. She had on a new white dress that she had been dying to wear for the past to weeks. It was her seventh birthday party and she was having the time of her life, everything was perfect. When all the sudden a clown showed up, Ally told me she had always dreamed of having a clown come but didn’t think it would ever really happen. The clown did everything that Ally and I saw them doing on the movie we had watched the other night. The clown would blow up long balloons and make them into shapes of different animals, everything he was doing made Ally laugh.
I was slightly confused considering the clown wasn’t supposed to show up for another hour at least, but either way it didn’t matter to me if he was late, early, or on time as long as Ally was happy. I and few other adults were watching all the excitement from some benches that sat in the grass only a few feet away. As I looked closer I was slightly beginning to recognize through all of his makeup. The expression on my face filled with concern, he was our neighbor but not just any old friendly neighbor. He was always so creepy and dark in way and never really talked much. I had always told Ally to make sure her and her friends stayed out of his yard, when they came over to play. But why now, why would he be here? The thought was nice but out of nowhere the tears began to stream down his face carrying the colorful makeup with it. His voice sound more dreadful than I remember, growing louder as his emotions took over. Through his cries the screaming of “why did she leave me?” filled my ears as he repeated it over and over. I was shocked and confused and I could feel the expression on my face showed it because all of the other adults had similar thoughts racing through there minds. Not thinking I stood up and shouted “GET OUT OF HERE!”, but to my surprised he calmly answered “no”, he alcohol on his breathe was so strong I almost gagged . In a panic I ran inside to call the police because in his condition he was not about to stay here and frighten Ally and her friends more than he already had. Trying to be calm I told the police the situation and they said they were on there way, but I had to get outside with Ally. I hurried out in fear of what the clown could have done in the few moments I had been gone. As I approached the party I noticed everyone silent and starring, it was the clown. He had a gun pressed tightly in his mouth, in fear of the children I began to run over to him. I was not about to let everyone See his brain fly allover that 12 gauge, but by the time I had jumped to tackle him it was to late. He gun had fired and all I could hope was that it hadn’t hit anyone. Startled I jump up off the motionless clown only to look down to see him dead. The blood covered my clothes and everything and everyone around us.
I heard the police sirens and watched a tall man in a police uniform jump out of the white car screaming, “PUT YOU HANDS…” his voice grew confused as well as the expression on his face as he asked” what happened here?” Being too panicked to realized what I was saying a said “that crazy fuck shot himself in the face and cover our whole after noon in blood!” whiled I pumped my fist in the air. “We need to get these people cleaned up and out of here” the tall policeman said to the chief. “Aright” Said the chief, As well as getting this bodied taken care of so no one has to look at it any longer.” Before I could get Ally inside and cleaned an ambulance had already arrived a people were being questioned. I asked Ally if she wanted to go inside but she said nothing, she just starred at the clown as the paramedics lifted him into the ambulance, and it almost seemed as though they did this everyday.
I helped her into the house so that I could get her out of her blood soaked dress that I knew the police where going to want. But that didn’t matter; the dress was ruined along with the party. If I had known all of this was going to happen I would have never had this party, I would have just had a small dinner nothing special. My little girls party was ruined thanks to that no good selfish neighbor. But where was the real clown I had hired, what had happened to him?
